Other than that, I have been taking my core classes and I do have to take Drawing I & II for the GD program, so I took Drawing I this semester. The teacher is actually very good which is a great change since I've had some bad experiences with art teachers at SPC, and I've done some neato things in the class. I figured I'd post some of them here.
Here are some drawings from my sketch book that I have to keep for the class. Some of these are actual ideas for paintings, I call that killing two birds with one stone :)

Ok, here are some of the actual assignments for the class...
This is a still life that I worked on in class, as you can see I didn't have time to finish it, but I was happy with what I did get done.

Here I attempted to work with pen and ink, it was actually a lot of fun to work with, but very hard to control.

Here is just another still life I did. It was supposed to be a still life reflected in a mirror, hopefully you can tell that :)

Now here was something that I hadn't really done before. The assignment was to darken the paper with charcoal and then use your eraser and charcoal to complete the shading and highlighting. This was just a quick one I did in class in just a few minutes, but I really enjoyed working with this technique.

As you can see I liked the technique so much I used it for my next project which was supposed to represent time in some way, so I did a time lapse series of an orchid blooming. The ugly thing is, as you can tell from the pics, is that since the piece was charcoal, I attempted to apply a fixative to keep them from smearing. Well, I applied way too much and had the bottle way to close so it left a nasty film on all three, completely destroying the pretty detail, especially the highlights. Oh well, they still look pretty and lesson learned.

And here is the latest one that I did. The assignment was to copy a master's drawing, so I did this very angry man by Leonardo Da Vinci. I know that it isn't quite proportional and some of the shading is off, but it was 10 o'clock at night and it was due the next day, I know, excuses, excuses :)

And that is it so far. We actually only have a couple of weeks left and one big final project to do. I have done some preliminary sketches for that, but the teacher has them right now. I'll get them up along with the finished drawings sometime in the near future. I'm also taking Drawing II next semester, so plan to see more from that class, I'll probably start including projects I do for my GD class as well, but we'll see.
